By pioneering offshore farming of Seriola dumerili (Greater amberjack) and producing high-quality fingerlings, OAC is building a new model of aquaculture designed for the future of our oceans. In addition to supplying its own offshore operations, OAC aims to provide a continuous supply of premium seriola fingerlings to farmers, helping address the current shortage of specialized hatchery capacity and supporting the development of a reliable supply chain for the emerging seriola industry.

Aquaculture is recognized by the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to play a pivotal role in addressing the pressing need for sustainable and secure food production. Through its comprehensive and forward-thinking approach, OAC GLOBAL aims to create a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable blue economy for the benefit of present and future generations.
OAC GLOBAL, headquartered in Madrid, is committed to produce seafood in a highly sustainable manner through the establishment of multiple large offshore farms in southern Spain. The group consists of experienced professionals specializing in offshore technology and the aquaculture of marine species at European and global levels. The group comprises the following companies:
OAC HATCHERY OAC HATCHERY specializes in the production of amberjack and meagre fingerlings. Their expertise lies in the successful cultivation of these species from their early stages that will then grow further in OAC’s offshore facilities. OAC’s Hatchery project is planned in the Port of Carboneras.
OAC ANDALUCÍA is dedicated to the OFFSHORE FARM project located in the Andalucia region. With an annual production capacity of 12,000 metric tons, this project focuses on cultivating amberjack and meagre using offshore farming methods.
OAC MURCIA is dedicated to the OFFSHORE FARM project located in the Murcia region. With an annual production capacity of 6,000 metric tons, this project focuses on cultivating amberjack and meagre using offshore farming methods.

Why Ocean Aquaculture?
Aquaculture in the Mediterranean faces increasing spatial constraints due to competition with tourism, fisheries, and marine protected areas. As a result, the sector is progressively moving toward offshore environments, where deeper waters and advanced technologies allow production to expand while reducing pressure on coastal areas.
OAC GLOBAL is developing an integrated model built on two complementary pillars: offshore farming and the production of high-quality Seriola juveniles. Offshore operations provide optimal natural conditions for farming Seriola, a high-value species with strong international market demand.
At the same time, OAC Hatchery will supply a continuous stream of premium seriola fingerlings, addressing the current shortage of specialized hatchery capacity in the Mediterranean. By supplying both its own farms and other producers, OAC supports the development and scaling of the emerging Seriola aquaculture industry within the framework of European Blue Growth strategies.
INNOVATION
OAC GLOBAL represents one of the most innovative aquaculture developments currently underway in Europe, combining advanced offshore engineering with the production of high-value marine species, such as Seriola dumerili.
SERIOLA PRODUCTION
A central element of the project is the development of reliable production systems for Seriola dumerili (Greater Amberjack), a premium species with growing international demand. Designed around advanced RAS technology, OAC Hatchery will provide a consistent supply of high-quality seriola fingerlings, supporting both the company’s offshore operations and the broader development of the Mediterranean Seriola aquaculture industry.
OFFSHORE FARM TECHNOLOGY
The offshore farm design is being developed by companies with extensive experience in offshore aquaculture systems. The project will utilize semi-submersible cage structures designed to operate in exposed offshore conditions while maintaining efficient and automated farming operations.
SUSTAINABILITY
OAC GLOBAL is committed to the community, the environment and the welfare of farmed fish.
The implementation of marine farms at a long distance from the coast considerably reduces their environmental impact and nullifies their visual impact.
Our farms will be located in water depths exceeding 150 meters with high water renewal. They will have a high degree of automation and remote control and that, together with low densities, favors the welfare of the fish. OAC ensures an optimum carbon footprint of the fish produced.
In addition, the company is committed to obtaining the most rigorous environmental certifications at international level (ASC/Aquaculture Stewardship Counsil).
OAC will grow its own fingerlings onshore, for its amberjack and meagre fingerlings, at their hatchery located in Carboneras/Almería by using a closed-circuit technology (RAS).
The Blue Growth policy of the European Union (EU) embodies a strategic framework aimed at promoting sustainable economic development in coastal and marine sectors. Offshore aquaculture represents one of the most promising opportunities to achieve these development objectives.
ECONOMIC SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
The offshore aquaculture industry, led by OAC Global, can play a pivotal role in driving social and economic sustainable development in the coastal regions of the Spanish Mediterranean. As a strategic sector, offshore aquaculture offers significant opportunities for job creation, entrepreneurship, and skill development in these areas. The integration of this industry within coastal communities leads to enhanced economic diversification, increased local investments, and improved livelihoods for residents.
LOCAL INVESTMENT
The construction of the offshore farms and land facilities (hatchery) will represent an investment exceeding 300 million euros exclusively in Spanish territory.
SOCIAL INTEGRATION
The project provides support to the coastal region where it is located (Andalusia & Murcia), generating jobs (200+ jobs) in accordance with the fishing culture of these towns. During the various construction years, this could be more than 800 jobs.
MARKET
The fish produced will be marketed in deep frozen mode, with the maximum guarantee of quality, traceability and productive information for the consumer through its QR code.
This involves the recording of key information such as the species origin, production methods and processing details. By employing advanced technologies such as electronic tagging, keeping digital records and traceability systems OAC guarantees swift identification and recall of products if any safety issues arise. These comprehensive food safety and traceability measures are vital to guarantee consumer confidence, uphold industry integrity and ensure that farmed fish products meet the highest standards of safety and quality.

8.Luis Fernández Vizcaíno: Architect with 30 years of experience and a solid track record in the design and development of all types of building and urban planning projects. Extensive experience in bureaucratic procedures with public administrations, including the obtaining of urban licenses, permits, and administrative authorizations. He has participated in architectural design business projects, real estate promotion, renewable energy, and particularly sustainable onshore aquaculture projects.
